For those unfamiliar, Dark Matter takes place somewhere in the 27th century, a future where big corporations seem to hold the most power and pretty much run the galaxy in a system filled with corruption, even so far as to carry influence with the Galactic Authority (the galaxy's police force). Five is one of several members on board a spaceship known as the Raza, who in an incident happening within the first episode, all lose their personal memories (or technically speaking, can no longer access them). / I'm willing to AU her into other settings, though. It's also easy to take her from second or third season and use a canon device known as the "blink drive" to insert her accidentally or purposefully into other timelines or dimensions. Yay, sci-fi mechanics!

Five is 5'2" with dyed green-blue hair and blue eyes. She's not easily mistaken for an adult, but is easily underestimated thanks to her age and appearance. She usually dresses in colorful, if not bright, somewhat quirky clothing - a contrast to the rest of the crew on her ship who mostly can be seen in dark or monochromatic colors. Common staples are leggings with fun prints as pants, boots, and often a jacket tied around her waist (even if she's already wearing a jacket). Sometimes wears a metal ear cuff of her own design on her right ear as well.

↬ Background/Timeline - Important Bits (SPOILERS AHOY)

★ Orphan at a young age, then ran away/out of the system at the age of 12 and lived on the streets.

★ Learned engineering / electronics / programming skills from a kind older man. He told her she has a sister somewhere shortly before she had to leave the area.

★ Bunked hidden with a group of kids her age on a space station, made money by pickpocketing and small cons. Possibly she chose the particular station she did while searching for her sister / because it was close to her sister.

★ Friends were shot and killed by someone looking for an item that Five (then known as 'Das') had stolen during a standard pickpocket. Das and one of her friends (a boy, wounded and dying) stow away aboard the Raza to escape from the killer. The boy dies.

★ After being put to a vote by the crew of the Raza, Das is allowed to stay (and not be thrown out an airlock, yippee!).

★ At some point, Das discovers two crewmates are planning to kill a third. To protect the third crewmate, she programs a virus in a rush to target the memories of everyone on board while they are in stasis pods. She probably meant to make them forget the reason why they were planning to kill one of their crewmates, but instead the virus winds up cutting them off from any of their previous memories and also somehow stores all of those memories, dormant and hidden, inside of Das.

★ The Raza crew awakens from stasis with no memories. They name themselves in the order they awoke, and Das becomes Five.

★ The Raza crew finds out that One, Two, Three, Four, and Six are all mercenaries with lengthy criminal backgrounds. Five's presence aboard the ship and among the crew is one big question mark, and this bothers her. She tells Android she wants to be one of the team, and that she thinks she can trust the rest of the crew despite their past dangerous crimes because without their memories they're different people.

★ Five is drawn to the air vents inside the Raza, and uses them to explore the ship and as a safe, quiet place to think. She trespasses into Four's room while he's gone and solves the box puzzle for him.

Five: You recognize this place? ... Something bad happened to you here. This is where you were at your weakest.

Portia: I don't think so.

(Portia attacks Five but can't seem to hurt her, whereas Five hits Portia and seems to have super strength in comparison)

Five: (Grabbing a pipe) It's the fear. In this moment for you, it is so powerful that it robs you of all your strength, all your will. (Attacks Portia with the pipe) I'm done playing the frightened little girl. Let's see how you like it for a change. (Raises pipe for finishing blow)

Portia: (Flinches, terrified and close to tears)

Five: (Hesitates)

Android: You have to finish her. You have to show no mercy.

Five: No. No, not like this. (Drops pipe, close to crying now too) I know what happened to you. They treated you like a slave. And when you escaped, they hunted you like an animal. No one ever showed you anything but the worst we have to offer. They made you this way! But I've seen the other side of you, (voice breaking) and I want her back. I want my *friend* back. Please... Please, sever the link, and end this now. [2x03]

I have diagnosed social anxiety, depression, and an attention disorder (all of which I take meds for). Sometimes I need to take a break to recharge my social batteries, so disappearing for a few days isn't entirely unusual for me.
